Martin Wilson, former General Manager of Abseil Access, has discussed how CWL has been beneficial for Abseil Access. Please read below:
What were the key drivers and anticipated benefits you saw in joining the group and share some examples of those benefits being realised?
The support of the business has been a massive benefit for Abseil Access. Seeing other firms in action and the introduction of new process systems has meant that we have been able to attract larger projects and clients. The recent merger with VertechNZ wouldn’t have been possible without CWL. We now have a stronger position against our competitors and can utilise each other’s strengths in the market.
Can you share your experience regarding the initial integration into the Group and what impacts has this had to your business and team since joining?
The overall experience during the integration was seamless. Tom Brennan took the time to explain the process in detail and was there for support throughout the journey. The overall outcome from joining the Group has been nothing but rewarding for all those involved, we have continued with the group even after the stipulated period.
If the founder of a new company were to ask you personally for details on you being given the freedom to run your business and the support or freedom to accelerate growth, how would you respond?
My response would be positive. Seeing first hand how this has positively impacted Abseil Access and our sister companies, has shown the capabilities of CWL.
How has Joining the group contributed to your company’s growth, innovation, and ability to tackle challenges? Could you provide a specific example where this support significantly influenced a project or investment decision?
Joining the group has given Abseil Access a greater ability to tackle challenges. The continuous support with procedures and mentorship has allowed us to develop across the company. Since joining, we have been able to expand our presence location and have now opened up a second storage area. Our overall company image has vastly improved and using the CWL branding has created brand awareness and recognition. Turnover has increased, along with the confidence of the company. With CWL we know we can succeed.
Can you discuss a particular instance where collaboration within the Group led to enhanced outcomes for your company, whether it be through shared knowledge, technologies, or market opportunities?
One recent example would be the success of securing a PNG project. This allowed us to gain more opportunities in Australia and have more presence outside of New Zealand. Not only does this aid in revenue growth but also gives us the opportunity to use shared knowledge from the wider group and progress with joint projects. Charles Loader, former General Manager of Abseil Access, was brought on to aid in the introduction of Abseil Access to the Group. This brought massive improvements to the company and also helped with the integration. Once the integration had passed, we were able to progress as normal and Charles moved on to help with further companies in the group. We are currently waiting for a new Project Management System, which is being developed and utilised from within the group.
